The Gonzaga baseball team extended its winning streak to 11 in a game filled with offense Tuesday.
The Zags outhit Washington State, scoring a 16-8 decision in a nonconference game at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman.
Gonzaga improved to 24-14 overall. WSU slipped to 21-20.
The Zags put up five runs each in the fifth and sixth innings, building a 13-6 lead.
Noah Meffert led Gonzaga with four hits and Mikey Bell added three. Meffert also had three RBIs and Jacob Wrubleski matched it.
The Zags piled up 20 hits. Eleven Zags had at least one hit.
The Cougars finished with 11 hits. Gonzaga starting pitcher Zachary Bowman pitched 31/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. Mickey McClaskey picked up the victory, going 32/3 innings.
He gave up three hits and three runs.
Washington State started the offensive fireworks with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Gonzaga came back with three in the second, but WSU took a 6-3 lead through four. That’s when the Zags struck for five runs before an out was recorded in the fifth. Bell hit a two-run homer.
