Jake Holtz is thriving in his new role at Whitworth.

The Pirates junior collected 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench, and he led Whitworth to a 91-48 rout of Pacific in a Northwest League men’s basketball game on Saturday at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

Holtz started the first eight games of the season for the Pirates (8-5, 3-1 NWC) and averaged 13.6 points per game.

He’s averaged 15.4 points since switching to a reserve role beginning Dec. 20 against St. John’s.

Sullivan Menard added 14 points, and Michael Smith and Rowan Anderson scored 11 and 10. respectively, for Whitworth, which led 44-18 at halftime.

The Pirates shot 29 for 53 (54.7%) from the field, including 11 for 23 (47.8%) on 3-pointers.

Truman Young scored 11 points for the Boxers (7-6, 2-2) and Dimitri Cohen added 10.

Pacific made 21 of 57 shots (36.8%) and 1 of 20 3-pointers.

CC Spokane 84, Big Bend 80: Emmett Holt scored 24 points and the Sasquatch (12-2, 2-0) erased a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter to rally past the Vikings (3-8, 1-1) in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Spokane Falls CC.

Jaylin Turner added 16 points, and Trey Stevens had 14 points and nine rebounds for CCS, which trailed 73-64 with just over 6 minutes remaining.

Karon Sears scored 22 points for the Vikings.

North Idaho 106, Treasure Valley 68: Taden King powered the undefeated Cardinals (11-0, 2-0) to an NWAC win over the Chukars (3-8, 0-1) with 22 points in Coeur d’Alene.

Xavier Bailey and Brendan Johnson added 18 and 17 points, respectively, for NIC, and Julius Mims totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds.
